Course Description
The Anatomy & Physiology for Coders was written by coders, for coders! This course will prepare you for the anatomy-intensive requirements of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
The course includes weekly lesson plans based on one or more chapters from the textbook Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology by Donald Rizzo. Additional bonus content includes disease processes, frequently prescribed drugs, and common laboratory tests.
The 12-week curriculum provides a comprehensive and complete review of the major body systems. Course emphasis will focus on what coders need to know in order to learn and use ICD-10-CM and -PCS. Pre-Requisites
The student should have coding experience and/or recent coding education. This education may include completion of a coding certificate program, or having earned an AS or BS degree in Health Information Technology or Health Information Management.
Course Summary
- Material emphasizes what coders need to know for current ICD-9 and CPT coding as well as that needed to learn ICD-10 CM and PCS
- Major body systems and common diseases and disorders are covered, as well as laboratory tests and prescription drugs
- 12 week curriculum, students are allowed 15 weeks to complete the course
- Lesson notes and 1-2 text book chapters per week; 16 chapters of textbook content
- 4 to 8 hours of work required per week; time required will vary depending on student’s knowledge and experience

CEU Credits
To receive CEU credits, you must achieve a grade of 80% or higher on the weekly assessments. As a student, you will have two chances to pass each weekly assessment.
