Barry Libman Inc. launches new online Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Exam Prep Course
BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS – October 01, 2012–Barry Libman Inc. has launched a new Certified Coding Associate Exam Preparation course. The eight-week, online, self-paced course specifically prepares one to sit for the CCA Certification Exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
The Certified Coding Associate Exam Preparation course is the latest addition to Barry Libman Inc.’s line of health information management workforce development courses. As the health information management and health information technology industry grows, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that by 2015 there will be a shortage of more than 50,000 qualified HIM and HIT workers. Attainment of the CCA credential demonstrates an individuals’ entry-level coding competencies across all settings, including both hospitals and physician practices.
“The CCA credential is often someone's first credential in HIM. It starts them on their professional career,” said Patti Parkes, course co-author. “Our CCA exam prep course prepares them for this career by preparing them to take and pass the exam. As a long-time educator, I particularly love working with HIM professionals at this point in their career and value the opportunity to help them succeed.”
The Barry Libman Inc. Certified Coding Associate Exam Preparation course offers valuable study and test taking strategies that include review of tested CCA domains:
- Clinical Classification Systems
- Reimbursement Methodology
- Health Records and Data Content
- Compliance
- Information Technology
- Confidentiality and Privacy
- Review of medical terminology and common diagnoses by body system
- Intensive ICD-9-CM and CPT coding practice
“While the Barry Libman Inc. CCA Exam Prep course is comprehensive and covers all the domains of the exam in detail, we have paid special attention to the topic of coding,” said Mary Beth York, course co-author. “We did this firstly because it is the largest domain in the test, and secondly because we are a coding company and want to be sure CCA students are ready to assume positions in this industry. Our course contains real life examples from our years of experience in HIM.”
