NYHIMA Becomes a Affiliate Partner for ICD-10 Readiness Course

BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS – December 17, 2012 – New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA) signed a course affiliate partner agreement to offer Barry Libman Inc.’s Anatomy & Physiology for Coders course to its’ members.

A non-profit organization, NYHIMA is a component state association of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).   NYHIMA’s members’ consists of Health Information Management professionals employed in hospitals and other health care settings throughout New York State.

The Anatomy & Physiology for Coders was developed to educate medical coders preparing for transition to ICD-10-CM and -PCS. The 12-week course provides a comprehensive and complete review of the major body systems, as well as coverage of common diseases and disorders, frequently prescribed drugs, and common laboratory tests.

The course uses the textbook and supplemental CD, Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology by Donald Rizzo. Also included are lesson notes, multi-media videos, interactive educational games, and full-color anatomical drawings to amplify course content. Multiple quizzes and comprehensive weekly assessments assure mastery of the material.

As an online course, students can access Anatomy & Physiology for Coders 24/7.

The course has received prior approval for 24 continuing education units (CEUs) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and 6 continuing education units (CEUs) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
